quick question for MT owners

if you are going very slow in 2nd, and have to shift into first while rolling, lets say in traffic, do you feel/hear a clunk from the back of the car? its very noticible
how slow? but yes, i do hear all kinds of clunks, chatters, and grinds from my tranny. if i can ever get the ******* thing in the shop, it will be looked at. theres no way all the noises i hear are "normal". i think you might be getting the noise, because the tranny and rear end are not going the same speed when you are shifting. try to shift other gears (like 3rd-5th) and see if it happens there too.

you really shouldn't be shifting into first unless you're at a dead stop. first gear is too tall to be downshifting from second.

i usally only do this if am barely moving at all, like when you come to a stop sign etc.. basically where i am moving so slow that if i didnt put it into 1st it would stall. i have more great news!! now my drivers door wont open from the outside!!!

well this is the door that was replaced from the accident when i first got the car, so the body shop probably didn't put it back together correctly
there are cheesy clips that hold most handle linkages on. they probably broke it or didnt click it on properly. thats the most common problem. if you got about 1/2 hour, then take the trim panel off, and look at the linkage rod. probably just nneds snaped into place. this is better than taking it to the shop, and waiting for 1 hour or more for the techs to get to it and fix it.

i might, but it is going in for the trans problem, hopefully this week, so if i have time ill do it. how hard is it to take the panel off? i do have a panel puller.
ask afixer for the service manual page, but i never met a trim panel that didnt come off easy......
