Quick question for you C4 guys

I'm fixing to order an aluminum radiator for my Stang. I'll be running a C4 Trans King with transbrake and manuel valve body with a 4500 stall. Do ya'll run your tranny cooling lines through the radiator and then a cooler, or do you run just a cooler up front. Thanks

you realy dont want to run it thru the radiator, you want to have its own cooler out in front of the radiator.

I have them in series, with the auxillary cooler second.

It can be done either way, aux cooler only, radiator first or second.

For a street or track performance car, the standalone cooler is ok. I drive this thing all 12 months, so in cooler weather, I have believed that that having the radiator cooler in line to warm up the trans fluid is a reasonable idea.

Cooler

The reason I ask is because the guy doing my motor says you want to run it through the radiator so that it keeps it at operating temp. He claims that just a cooler in front of my radiator only, cools it too much therefor causing the tranny to wear out quicker. Any thought?

I am just running a cooler in the front becasue the radiator was cheaper that way,, but if I had a choice I would run it through the radiator and the cooler,, heat kills auto trans,, and I dont think you can be too cool under operating conditions,, plus you get a bit more fluid capacity with the extra lengh,,, Bee

lets say one day your motor overheats, then your tranny might geta little warm as well. run it seperate. thats what ive been told by many tranny builders.
