Quick Question

Hey guys i have finally put my headers on and i have power steering on my car, but i tested out my steering and nothing hits in fact it feels like there is more vaccuum all my power accessories are working better. I got under the car and looked at the steering cyl nothing seems to hit the header i also turned the wheels side to side and still nothing at the closeest point it comes within a 1/2 inch or so and thats when the wheel is cranked all the way over. What do you guys think?? Do the 69's not need the bracket or what??? Is it integral ps? Is it going to damage if i don't use it?? Thanks in advance guys.

MY 70 doesn't have the bracket.

Nothing hits, BUT it's close enough to the header to melt the dust boot. It's cheap and easy..I'd do it just for piece of mind.

the boot on my car is pretty far away the boot is like an inch away what do you think?? Also will the header have to come back out for me to put this on??

No the header doesn't have to come out but don't use it if you don't have too. There are too many problems with the lowering bracket. If needed, add a heat sleeve to whatever it's close to.

Mine is about an inch away..maybe even a little more. It still melted.

I guess you could tack weld a piece of tin to the header to act like a heat shield...

how much is a heat sleeve and where could i get it??

Remember 69r your headers are ceramic coated and this will make a dramatic change in how much heat is put out. I would wait and see the boots don't cost that much and you should see this right away.

cool good idea clark thanks well im going to weld up the full exhaust system tomorrow im excited but am also going to miss the great sound of open headers.

No worries boys im gonna film the car with open headers and the exhaust. Im at my friends house welding up the exhaust right now. You guys are gonna love this. I will make a new thread you guys will notice because it will say VIDS!!!!!
