At 16 jobs are limited, something i have been thinking of doing is a car lot attendant? what do you guys think? anybody do this when there were younger? what were the perks of the job?

A great job for a kid your age is being a car porter at a new car lot. You get to drive all the new cars that come out and the work is not that bad. Another great part is that if you decide to stay most dealers like to hire from within and when it comes time for a new parts driver or oil lube technician they will look at the porters. Many service writers, salesman parts guys and mechanics started as a porter.

My brother was a porter at the local Chevy dealer before he could drive, wound up in the dealer body shop, can paint like crazy now. He'll be painting my car this spring. Give that a shot, you'll learn lots, and get paid, and discount on factory parts.
Jobs i've worked
fast food:
+'s Incredibly easy and very flexible with your schedule
-'s its fast food. greasy, stink, nasty.
restaurant work:
+'s easy work, good pay
-'s less flexible in my experience. waiting tables can get stressful (according to my gf)
retail jobs:
+'s also easy, sometimes very good pay and raises
-'s PEOPLE are cranky A-HOLEs 24/7, you cant make them happy, some seek you out in the entire store just to harass you
(IMO)
factory work/general labor:
+'s really simple work, great pay
-'s sometimes tiring, repetitive, dirty work
I would just apply everywhere you can think of and take the highest paying job. Its your first (at least one of your first jobs, not under the table crap family jobs) so who cares what it is as long as your making money.
The options arent huge for 16 year olds, take whatever you can get imo. good luck man

... although I'd lean towards a porter job, myself. Cleaning cars can actually be kinda fun, as you get to plop your butt in some REALLY nice cars from time to time. And, as stated, dealerships like to hire from within. A buddy of mine started out as a porter and, over the years, has worked his way up from there to a desk guy at the service department, to a supervisor's slot. He's now a service supervisor at Lexus (he started at a GM dealership), is making six figures, and gets sent out on all kinds of groovy company-paid vacations for various stuff, and gets to test-drive band new expensive fancy-pants Lexus cars n' stuff. I wish I'd gotten into that back in the day, but it's kinda too late for me to go back to a minimum-wage job as a porter, now. I'm making $12.60/hour now in medical registration, and the best I can afford right now is ramen noodles and hot dogs.

I did that for Honda East and Lindsay Acura over in Reynoldsburg...started out just washing all the new and service cars then moved over to the detailing department.....I loved that job, and still do detailing and stuff on the side based from what I learned there.
As mentioned above, go to your local Ford (or L/M) dealerships and see if they have any openings for a porter/get-ready type job. Two things, most dealerships pay per-car basis for get-ready, and a porter is a good way to work your way "up the ladder"...so to speak.
The perks are worth it alone. When you work for a dealership, you can get in good with the techs and get a lot of help working on your car. I know a few porters who started off moving cars, and ended up in parts.
I can't talk enough how much I LOVE being a Ford counterman (shop). It is great pay, awesome hours, and being I work with the techs I have free run of the shop when I need it. Granted I am 34 and have been doing this for quite some time....but any way you can get your foot in the door, especially at a young age....it is a great opportunity.

ok after school wensday this is what ill do, so what do i need to? walk in the dealership and ask if they need a car detailer? i want to go about this as profenial as possiably to do this right, there is only one ford dealer ship that is close to my house, the others are downtown and my parents dont like me being down that way due to traffic 
....
also think it would be a better idea to take drive the ranger instead of the mustang there?

go to the dealership and ask to fill out a application and ask the front counter lady if they looking to hire any porter's they usually know if they are that's how i started when i use to work at Bay Area FORD in Houston i got to work as a body shop porter pretty sweet i got to drive a RED FORD GT and a BLACK GT500 it was pretty sweet OH go dressed nice their may be a chance you could get an interview on the spot i got hired on the spot
Thats how I did it. I worked for a ford dealership as a lube tech/apprentice, Tires plus as a lube tech, Subaru dealership as a lubetech/apprentice/porter when they needed me. Now I work for a good year as a tech. I dont know, I somtimes miss the dealership, less stressfull but its fun sometimes.

i'd take the stang, maybe they'll ask what's going on with it and you can say you're restoring it yourself and some of the work you've done. it'd probably impress someone there....
do you have a resume yet? thats always a good idea. even if you have no work experience, you can make one stating your goals, skills,and interests etc. so they have something if they are maybe unable to hire you on the spot.

I worked at a Gokart track. Laugh all you want, but they were flexible, started at 16 behind the register, 17 in the garage (make $10.50 an hour baby) then 18 I worked outside on the track. Worked with more or less all friends, got to hit on tons of girls, got a lot of garage experience (rebuilding motors, clutches etc), and made decent money for a 16-18 year old. Would get the day off when it rained, and had friends visit us to hang out all the time.

Find something that sells well on ebay and start selling it. Buy a worn out Foxbody and part it out. I know a guy that makes his living parting out mustangs.
