Quite a find I think, 92 GT

Just picked this up and I can't believe how good of condition it is in for 132K miles, besides the paint of course. Engine bay is perfect, jealous now as it's cleaner than my LX. The body has absolutely no dents, dings or anything, perfect, again better than mine. The interior has literally 5 minor things wrong, headliner has some small cuts in it, ash tray door, driver door lock doesn't work, front of dash yellowed a little, and interior window wipe(?) I guess it's called has a couple chucks out of it. After I'm done cleaning the seats and the hatch carpet it will be perfect outside of those above items. Absolutely no tears in seats, even driver. Almost got 25 mpg on the trip back from picking it up. 20 on the last tank from in town driving.

I can ALMOST say it's bone stock, the only two upgrades it came with are Flowmasters and a larger radiator. Oh and the steering rack isn't stock, looks like some sort of aluminum as it isn't black. Previous owner also put in a new alternator and power steering pump. Has a/c conversion. Had my mechanic fix as it wasn't working, just a leaking line, and I just put in nearly new fan and fan clutch, now runs and blows crazy cold. Just did brakes, rotors, and am currently sanding down and painting the trim with SEM trim paint. The trim isn't the greatest but the repaint will improve it a lot.

Now for the dilemma and point of the post. This is supposed to be a fix up and sell. Before I got it I had planned on just running to Maaco for paint. Originally had about 750 budgeted and available and maybe could have gotten something decent from them. Now with various circumstances I don't have that much. Plus finding out the great condition of the car I almost don't want to do an injustice to the car by using Maaco. Still might as it'd be fun seeing how nice it would be and I still think it would sell for a decent price here. Just looking for thoughts, opinions. Could I get 3500-3900 with everything done but the paint? I know areas of the country differ, there's been some I've seen priced way more than this where I'm at that don't hold a candle even with the paint the way it is. Plus the fact it is so close to stock it is very attractive...really wish I could keep it now to keep miles off my LX (at 87K now).

that car is beautiful the way it is, so just imagine the possibilities if you were to put a nice paint job on it! wish i had room in my garage! i would just keep it myself!

Yeah it was a pleasant surprise seeing how clean it was. I'm pretty torn. I'm basically almost at my financial limit for this project. I got get a quote from someone local here that, for 1100, will...sand, prime, block sand, fill low spots, prime, sand, seal, basecoat 3 coats in 2 colors, clear coat 4 coats, colorsand and polish to a deep smooth shine. Sounds like it would be perfect and the car would look amazing, I just don't have the funds, nor do I think I'd get much of a return if I'm over budget. I think Maaco would look ok, just wouldn't want to admit they did it!

It's kind of upsetting that its so nice as I really would love to keep it as a DD, but just can't. I might just put out some feeler ads to see what the market here will bear. Finishing the trim will help slightly and I think I'm going to paint the tails in the black trim as well, heard on here it looks pretty solid (I bought LX lights for it but am leaning towards keeping it original).
