Drove the car to work, no issues.

Drove the car to the gym, no issues.

Drove the car home, no issues.

My 140mph speedometer showed up and I dis-assembled the dash/gauge pod, swapped speedo's and re-installed everything.

Car will turn-over, catch, then die. No idle (or 5 seconds of dying idle), no response to throttle, nothing...

So, should I putback the 85 mph speedo? Tell me it isn't so....

Any, and I mean any questions or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dale

just a shot in the dark here, but sounds like your tach wire could be grounding out coil .

I will replace the 85 mph unit Wednesday evening.

I was gentle with the connectors and wires. I even tried to start the car without any gauge cluster in place with the same result.

I will try again tomorrow but 1) thanks for the questions/suggestions so far and 2) keep them coming.

If it wouldn't fire up without gauge cluster connected you've got a whole different issue. Changing speedo is not gonna help.

yep... possibly a short on the tach wiring. Trace it and check it out... Even a nudge can cause a short on that old of a stang... Im pretty much rewiring my entire vehicle.

Went looking around the egnine bay and found a random vacuum hose that was taped to the firewall. The tape had deteriorated and covered the hose, blocking it off.

So, out of curioisty I removed the tape and the car fired right up.

Now to find out where that hose goes....

Thanks for the help!
