Still a newbie, Tonight is going to be my first night @ legal races. I was wondering what a good rpm to launch at is, because I've played arround w/ 3,000..and 4,000. I just don't want to end up spinning all the way threw 1st.
Any suggestions

just try everything on the track. never know what works for you. if u have slicks, use em! if not then go around the water pit and do a small and quick burnout. no point in wasting good street tires on a long burn out. in the end, just have fun and dont red light!

water box;

I've beet told that onse the rear tires are in the box, Slap it in 2nd, dump the clutch, and wait untill the tires smoke, once they start hit the brake w/ the accelerator still smashed. Apperantly this is for a controled burn out.

on street tires, do a heel/toe first gear burnout for a good 4-5 seconds of smoke. you want to avoid the water when on street tires

No disrespect intented but I disagree. On street tires:
1) drive around water box
2) In first gear rev it up and drop the clutch. Quick spin only to clean the tires
3) Set your tire pressure around 25 psi and play with it from there.
4) Actual launch technique will vary depending on track prep
5) Lot's of practice!

I find smoking the tires causes them to get really greasy. Which leads to poor traction.

well, i am not going by my numbers alone. I have a few friends i raced with in street stang that pulled low 1.8 60's with the same technique as me. They are also the only two guys i know that have gone 12's with real street tires and only bolt ons with a 2v. If you got that beat then I will start doing it your way. The numbers dont lie
