Raced the car at the track and beat a 05 *Vid Inside*

Whats up guys been a while since i posted,
yesterday i went to a local 1/8 strip an ran the 5.0 for the first time and it ran great. Got two passes in first one was bad, I dumped the clutch and first gear popped out, So I just cruised on the first pass for an 11.XX

The second time i took it easy , no powershifting or anything and ran a 8.9 at 80 mph, and left an 05 Gt in the dust.

My question is, roughly what would 8.9 at 80mph translate to at a 1/4 mile?

I'll post up the vid soon

edit: vid in link

or if that does not work

I love that burnt orange color...

If there would have been a better driver in the 05, you wouldn't have "left him in the dust"...

8.9 would be around a 13.90 in the 1/4.

That car does look hot but I would have left the window trim and mirrors black.

What are your mods?

8.9 @ 80 is probably a high 13 at 100-102. The 05 should have been right there with you...

But I do agree, awesome car there!

Light and torquey 5.0s often keep up with way faster 1/4 mile cars through the 1/8.

placed link above

I was hoping for something like 13.5-13.9 in the 1/4 mile so thats pretty good.
i wish i would have brought the tire pressure down though, that way i could have not peeled out as much

You definately killed him but he ran a 10.0 in the 1/8 at what looks like 70 mph. Something was up with his car, but you had a good run!

whitegt, dont you have a 331 stroker and a slew of other goodies on that thing if i remember correctly? and he definitely could have "left him in the dust" from what i remember about his build a while back.

331? I wish, its a 306 with H/C/I and slew of aftermarket suspension pieces

If that 8.9 translates to a 13.5-8 ish I'm happy with that because I know there is a lot of room for improvement.

Had fog lights like the GTs, so unless aftermarket, it was a GT.

Also HCI 306 should be a good deal faster, but Im sure you will work it out and get it running to potential. My guess is low 8s in the 1/8 for it when sorted out (on street tires).

You can get the light and grill kit off ebay now to make it look like a gt.

I wasn't talking about his potential. I was talking about what he ran. The 05 GT should have been right there.

I'm quite sure that is a GT, just the driver couldn't drive it. Shifting to early...

It also had GT rims Gt badges, dual exhaust, I'm pretty sure it was a GT

I'm also hoping for low eights, and judging by how hard i was pushing the car, I'm sure thats obtainable.

Nice tail lights

I pulled 9.1 @7x mph spinning a 1.9 60ft on nitto drag radials at HMP , that was with the stock intake manifold, stock heads, bbk shorty headers, fuel psi @60 WOT w/24# squirters, 80mm pro-m, E cam, 10* timing, and o/r x. This was the second day after i bought my car .

You should be doing alot better with a h/c/i 306, practice some more and some drag radials or slicks and you should see low eights pretty easy i would think. HMP sucks for traction, you really need slicks to hook there , or go to HRP and hook on street tires like i did .

don't even mention the taillights, I've been meaning to change them ever since i bought the car.

I know the car is faster but I'll admit that i'm a newb when it comes to racing at the track, yesterday was the first day I raced at the track, but I'm definately going back for more, and will push the car harder.

What part of Houston are you from?
