How do you guys do it? do you slam it in full throttle or do you ease down on the throttle after shifting? Reason I ask is because while racing a g8 (at the track of coarse) I started to notice that when I slam the gear in and go WOT the g8 would jump ahead while my car spun the tires, so I tried again with the traction control on and noticed the g8 didnt pull until the 3rd gear shift but because of the traction being on my et was slower. Just wondering how some of you guys shift from 1-2 to improve my et (and driving) some....

Mabye try shifting the same but at a lower RPM to reduce wheel spin.

I stay WOT on the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift. I have missed 2nd a couple of times with my MGW shifter, haven't missed 2-3 shift with it though. It was the exact opposite with the stock shifter.

A good set of drag radials would help me out powershifting 1-2. With my street tires all I get is lots of wheel spin so I don't shift that way with street tires.

that's opposite for me, I lift bearly on 1-2 shift because it doesn't always go in and 2-3 has always been my favorite so i keep the throttle down. Hopefully torque limiters will fix the 1-2 shift for me. In my other car I keep it down all the way to the big end.

The first run or two down the track, I let off the gas when I shift. 2-3 power shift. After a run or two and my tires are hooking well I power shift all gears.

So you guys that are power shifiting all the gears.... you are telling me that you are not hurting the tranny or engine at all? Sounds like it could be fatal to some parts...

i never really had a problem with 2nd. my friend with a s197 said he has a problem with second and he thinks its a problem with his tranny. he threw me the keys and told me to try to shift it like i stole it. i did and no problems. i think his problem is how hes trying to get into second. when i go for second i pull back towards my self.third i push towards the radio i dunno if thatas the best way to hit it.

third gear is my problem powershifting.

Well I've never had a problem with the shifting, the stock shift on the s197 is better than the triax I had on my 02, I guess I need to get me some dr's or lift off, shift, then go wot n see how that affects anything

for better times it's beneficial, give you have tires that'll hook on each gear change....over time your syncro's will not appreciate your driving anymore.
