my raidator coolant tank won't hold coolant/water. I've changed ita out allrady because the old one had a crack, but not at the bottom. The new one doesn't hold water either. I'm thinking theres somehing else wrong which is making the engine work harder causing the radiator to need more water. Any ideas or suggestions plz help. (Also the check engine light comes on everytime i hit high third or low fourth.)

(P.S.
Yall have been pretty knowledgeable and hit the nail right on the head concerning my other questions, so thank you. Because obviously i know jack. lol :) )

hole in radiator? Can you smell hot antifreeze after a drive? my 95 did the same thing and I found drips from holes where the ends are joined to the center section of the radiator. Not sure about the check engine light, sorry. My 84 GT had similar issues with antifreeze, it ended up being a blown head gasket.

was the system bled after being opened up? if not, it will suck some fluid as it displaces air with coolant.
is the rad cap holding pressure? if not you could be boiling off water.

check EGR lines, heater lines, rad hoses, the bottom of the water pump (weep hole), etc for signs of a leak.

good luck.
