I'm not able to spin the blades, it feels like the bearings seized up on me.

Do I buy the whole assembly $179 or just the motor $55?

I would call ford and see if your car falls under the fan recall. Give them your vin # and it will tell them if so they will give you a new fan with the recall breaker attached to it.

Thanks for the tip, I just called. They said the recall was already performed on my car and actually, it's part of the problem. I guess they installed a circuit breaker that shuts off the fan to prevent engine fire...heh

I was going insane trying to figure out why I can get it to spin for just a second then have it just stop for no aparent reason.

They said that they can't cover this under the recall...which brings me back to my original question . . .

Mine did the same thing. Unfortunately my Vin# wasn't under recall. Where'd you find the assembly for 175? Our local dealers sell ONLY the complete setup with shroud, and my Wholesale price was like $220 from the Ford Dealer and list was 3something. Napa did have just the motor for $60, but the assembly isn't designed to pull apart well, so I went the quality factory route and got the stup from the dealer...Maybe the prices have dropped in the last 4 months, they do fluctuate.

Mine did that after the recall so I got an aftermarket one from Flex-a-Lite.

Here's what I found:

http://www.partsamerica.com Motormite 620128 RADIATOR FAN ASSEMBLY $144.88

http://www.autozone.com DORMAN # 620-128 $179.99

I'm ordering just the motor for now

As much as these things take a crap i would just pull one for dirt cheap at a junk yard if you are really fond of getting another stocker to replace it. Allen (17yrOldStanger) once pulled one for me for like 15 bucks out the door.

My fan motor seized, but wasn't gonna pay almost 200 for the whole unit from the dealer. Went to the autoparts store and picked up a motor for about 50.00

swapping the motors is a pain in the a$$. i tried it with mine. it is almost impossible to get the fan blade off the old shaft without breaking something. i'd first make sure it isn't covered by the recall. if not, then i'd get a new unit and be done with it.
