How do you remove the radiator support in a '66 Mustang coupe? I have ordered a new one, and I figure it's best for me to remove the motor and trans for repair/painting with the radiator support out of the way since I am going to replace it .

It has been 10 years since I did this but I believe it is just a matter of removing spot welds. Make sure the car is supported by jack stands on a level surface and not moved once the old support is removed.

Good Luck!

I'm also doing the cowl vent repair, and currently I have the windshield out and about 100 spot welds cut out so far. Should I finish that before removing the radiator support, or do you think it would be okay to support it on jack stands on the front only (or does it need to be on all 4's on jack stands?) - while also working on replacing the cowl sections?

Once I started the "frame off" restoration the car never moved from the jack stands and the level floor. Do one side at a time if possible.

I would finish one project at a time. Why have 4 going at once?

Because when you have four going at once, your bound to miss place parts and tools! thats why I'm currently doing 6, and constantly retracing my steps..

I would assume because of this you should be doing one at a time?

Are you being sarcastic ( I can't tell)

Roger that - I'll stick to 1 at a time. I ordered a Monte Carlo bar also, but it doesn't fit! (I just had to see... wasn't going to install it) Seems I need another inch in width to get the thing in, is there a trick to installing it?

Yes. The shock towers have sagged into towards one another over 40 years. Jack the car up from underneath at the crossmember. This will force the shock towers away from one another over a couple day duration as the car "relaxes". After a few days of settling, try installing the bar.
