Hi Marshall, Looking good!!

Is that registered in Qld? If so, what did you have to go through to get it registered?

Registered a week ago, just in time for the Hot Rod Nationals. Kept detailed records during construction including pics. Also had 2 engineers reports on structural mods to install Jag IRS, new firewall, Falcon pedals, brakes steering column, seatbelt anchorages etc. also had to do on road brake tests as part of the roadworthy examination.

Now have full registration and we're ready for crusin!

Are the engineer's local? Did you have any inspections before final assembly or where the photos enough for approval? Sorry for all the q's , just that I'm going to be going through this soon...hopefully

Can't wait until mine's ready for 'cruisin....

One of the engineers was a Queenslander, the other in Darwin. I suggest you talk to Qld Transport as they give out names of people who are authorised inspectors who can certify work done is to an acceptable professional standard and issue modification plates. They also have brochures on modifying vehicles.

Photoes alone are not enough, they want to see welds before they are ground down or painted over. They will also have to be satisfied with the steering geometry when changes are made to the origonal system.

I got the Darwin engineer involved early so I knew early if anything I wanted to do was going to be a problem.

You should be OK with the RRS power steering because Dept Transport appears to have approved it, no doubt a few are already installed in Falcons in Qld as well as Mustangs.

Marshall, it looks great! I didn't know you guys had to have stuff evaluated and approved before registration. Heck, here they only barely care if the car is roadworthy at all and safety inspections are a joke. That said, I'm kinda glad, because I can only imagine how political the whole affair could become if we had the same process as you guys.

Post more pics when it's skating on all fours.

American LHD to RHD conversions are fairly common here, the local authorities picked up on it years ago and make sure all the changes are structurally sound before allowing them on the road. Queensland currently has it a bit easier than the southern states, once a car is registered up here, that's it. The southerner's require yearly inspections - all cars!

Hi Marshall,

First off, Nice craftsmanship!

Second, do you have any more pictures on the IRS and how you modified it to fit the 66? Any would be appreciated as I am exploring IRS options myself.

Cheers,
Rufus
