Yeah, I wanted to see if anyone on here has done it before and how they did it (write up & pics, etc). I would have thought someone would have done it by now.

Here's some links to some power antennas:

You'll need a place to locate and house the motor somewhere in the fender well.

Did a search for “short antenna” and this 3-1/2 year old thread pops up and still has some good stuff in it. Like what 03 gtmustang said about shortening a stock 31” antenna mast. And what BullittAndy said about the mast’s practical un-amplified length. And other good stuff.

Total cost for a discreet shortened antenna mast for the Stang $0.00!

Don’t ever “deep six” any of these beautiful old threads... they’re awesome!

Cal-stang.com sells an in-dash antenna and using the delete kit above you have an invisible antenna :hail2:

which is what I plan on doing as soon as I get paid. And get some gears in. and finish my exhaust. and start saving for a body kit. Argh so much to get so little money!

I got mine from mustangtuning.com for like $20. It is like 8 inches and looks alot better than that mile long stock one. The radio stations don't come in as good but I don't listen to the radio much anyways!

"Homemade" Shortened Stock Antenna Mast

I know the thread is old but hey... nobody has posted a photo of what a shortened antenna looks like. I cut my stock stainless mast down to 16" - peened the top of the mast - slipped a drop of epoxy on top - and forced the ball on. The mast's practical un-amplified length (as suggested by BullitAndy) is still strong.

Antenna base to the top of the mini stainless ball is now 16". It's not an 8-incher but even at 16" long it is still an inch or two lower than the roof line. Reception is right on and it looks much better to me... than the long stock mast.

Total cost: $0.00 :nice:
