Radio/Electronics Specialists Needed

The shield is actually just straight to ground. You will have continuity on the shield to any ground in the car. The center wire is the only thing attached to the antenna. The little area around a solder connection is not enough to worry about. Take a meter and check from the prong outside area of the plug to ground and you should have continuity. The center pin needs to be checked and should not have any continuity between the shield/ground and the center pin. If you does, there is your problem. If it does not, check from the center pin on the radio and get someextra wire to reach out to the antenna. Find the connection on the antenna and check for complete continuity.

nice.couldnt be said better.basicly replace it and rock on.why go through all the bs of pulling out the test light and or meter and checking for continuity.just replaced the fubared part and continue to jam.

Well I couldnt find ONE long connector, so I used a short one to an adapter to another adapter. I tested it with the stereo out, and everything 'seemed' to work fine. I put everything back in and tightened everything up and :bang: STill get lots of static on most of the stations.

Could using several short wires cause that? There are no breaks or soldered parts.

Thanks

I already bought it, but it only goes from the antenna base to the glove box. The piece that is bad plugs into THAT wire behind the glove box and then plugs into the Antenna port on the radio. They dont have them locally, and if they get one shipped from another dealer, it's about $38.

Ill get the one from Jose, but I think HE should deliver it to ME! :rlaugh:

I only break SOME things to Re fix them...not everything.
