Radio Installation problems

I have a 90 gt with the 6 speaker stereo. I put my cdplayer in the car but the problems i ran into is the cd player only has 4 speaker outputs and i have 6 speakers i want to run. How would i wire around this, i had to run new speaker wire to all the speakers so for right now i am running the door speakers and the dash speakers off the cd player and i didnt hook up the back speakers. How would i run both sets of speakers off the cd player without buying a aftermarket amp? I dont wanna damage the cdplayer at all. thanks-james

Well I personally would just buy a amp but you can just wire the dash speakers with the front door speakers in a series circiut the only disadvantage is you will lose power output from the radio and you will lose bass output from the front speaker a small bit. The resaon is because the speakers in 99.9% of cars are 4 ohm speakers and when wired in series it just adds the resistances and creates one large risistance of 8 ohms. You cant wire it in parrell because the radio will not work in a 2 ohm load if it does it will just over heat and turn off. i now how to wire in a series one of the guys on the threads i searched, said to just wire the wires together on each side would this work? i dont want to rig this up since i have a very nice cd player and i dont want it to break.

I have my Pioneer 6x8 3-ways in the front of my Taurus wired in parallel with the factory tweeters on the sail panels, and it works fine with my Alpine CDA-9856...

if you still have the stock connectors wired in, theres an adapter that takes an aftermarket cd harness and integrates it into the stock wiring. bypasses the stock amp, and i believe it runs the door and dash speakers on parallel. shouldnt hurt the deck at all, if both speakers have the same resistance power/signal will be split equally around them. if one has less resistance, than that speaker will just get more of that signal.

this is not true when wiring the speakers together they will both get the same power and signal the radio just sees it as one speaker. The factory system has a cheap style crossover which send the lows and highs to correct speakers so in reality you have the radio only powering one speaker at a time so the radio will only see one resistanse of the one speaker this is how 2 and 3 way speakers work the little black thing under the tweeter is the spliter. So what you can do is run a small passive crossover and you can keep the bass from the small dash speakers and keep the bass down in the door speaker where it should be it will really make your stereo sound much better and the dash speakers will not distort with the bass. If you tell me what speakers you are running in the dash and what speakers are in the door I can tell you what crossover to get.

I have polk audio DB4x6's in the door they are 4ohms, then in the dash i have boston acoustics and i dont know much about them besides they sound good, i just wanna run all six speakers. Thanks-james

i always thought those were just caps? but anyway, i never said anything about what frequencies went to which speaker, was just saying that they all work and wont blow up the deck. i dont know how the stock crossover works, as in whether its in the wiring or the factory amp. i know i just used the harness adapter and all 6 speakers work and it doesnt sound too bad. could use a bit more bass, but i got a 12" sub siting in my basement for when i can get the front end fixed.
