Will a radio from a 94+ work in a 90?

i dont think so....i have a 94 cd/tape in my basement and i think i looked and saw the plugs were diff because there is an amp comfigured into the thing too...

anyway...someone else has to verify...

Did 93 Cobras come with a CD player? I had one a while back and it had a radio/CD player that I was told came out of a 94 or 95.

I think 93 was the first year you could get a cd player in a Stang.

I would think that as long as the dimensions of the two are the same, granted it wont be plug and play, but it should still work. One would just need to find a diagram of the pinning of the plugs and just rework them so that everything goes where its supposed to. Myself, I would really like to get ahold of a factory deck with a CD player. If I remember right, didnt they have a changer control built into them too? The provisions for the amp shoudlnt be that big of a deal. I would think it would be a matter of identifying the remote on and the preamp out wiring. Getting the harnesses all repinned may be a PITA tho. I have never really looked into it myself. Now I am curious.....Lemme know what ya'll find out....k?

I do know one thing, every factory single CD player I've ever owned has had problems with the CD player. It either just sat there and clicked or would not eject the CD.

93 was the first year of the premium stereo package. It essentially incorporated an amplifier under the passenger seat. If you have premium sound in your mustang then a 94+ ford cd and/or tape from a premium sound vehicle will work without any problems. Also, there are two wiring harnesses attached by a clip in the very back of the stereo bracket. These were put in all cars, however, in the premium sound vehicles you can simply use these connectors rather than hacking up the premium sound (amp) cable if doing an after-market head unit.

And yes, the 1993 cobra could be purchased with an optional CD player.

Lastly, when I got my Cobra the previous owner managed to put in a 94 Cobra radio with a lower slave CD player. They plugged right into the factory wiring and I don't believe he hacked up anything in doing it. I am still in the process of checking the wiring so don't quote me.
