I've seen various threads on here about people wanting to upgrade their speaker setup in their fox, but I never saw any conclusions.

I just went through the process of upgrading everything and wanted to share the results. I've got a set of Hertz components in the dash and doors, Hertz 5x7 coaxial in the rear, and a Rockville RockGhost V2 800w sub sitting in the spare tire. The factory EQ radio and factory EQ amp are pushing speaker level outputs to a Rockford DSP which goes into the 4ch 800w Sound Digital amp under the passenger seat. The sub output of the DSP goes to the Rockville.

I also have an EQ with the RCA outputs added to it to bypass the factory amp, but we weren't getting any sound from it. We suspect it wasn't pushing enough volts for the aftermarket amp to pick it up. That's why we switched to using the speaker level outputs from the factory amp.

The radio itself I had refurbished on eBay by the seller oempartsfinder. The original radio's left channel didn't work. He fixed it, redid all the capacitors, cleaned up the circuit boards and added Bluetooth. It's pretty cool, the phone connects automatically and I press the number 3 preset on the radio to switch it over to Bluetooth mode. Press it again to switch back to the radio.

It all turned out really well. If you open the doors or hatch you can't tell anything has been done. It's all hidden. But if you turn the factory radio on there is some serious sound. The RockGhost has plenty of bump for me. I didn't want an insanely loud system I just wanted it to sound good. My cassette tapes have never sounded better.
