Has any of you modular stang owners experimented w/ a March ram air kit or a homemade ram air kit, the theory behind it seems good, colder denser air = more horsepower. My current set-up is a '01 GT w/ drop in K and N filter w/ out silencer, UPR 3.5 true flow inlet tube, FMS 70mm T/B,professional products big month intake plenum, UPR Off-road X and 93 octane predator tune.Right now I have a March ram kit and Im in the process of fabricating a screen for the kit to keep out dirt and debris.Another concern is standing water especially in south florida, but of course its all about making power.Any feedback would be great! Thanks.

Those were one of the first aftermarket mods available for 4.6's but i've never actually seen anyone post a before/after dyno for one that proved any gain over a K&N filter.

To Ram or not?

Well I was assuming w/ a K and N already including in the set-up,I was thinking of adding a ram air kit to a already decent intake and exhaust system.I mean, they say if you shorten the length of the ram air tube so air does'nt have to travel that far to reach the air filter you really feel a difference in second gear or when you hit like 25-30 mph.As far as for the dyno, your right I hav'nt seen any results either but I wondered if they simulated it w/ like an industrial fan forcing air into the air scoop.

Last month Modified Stang mag, someone has one on a 98 Cobra and they have the hp/trq rating on it... not much thought, i think it was on there mostly for track racing !

Thanks, I might have that mag, I think the cobra's on the cover and he has it hanging pretty low under the bumper.

It is great if you want to waste money. A JLT or regular K&N will work just as good if not better.

K&N or MAC if you live in a STRICT SMOG state, if not go JLT all the way , spend the extra bucks and get it a little custom and be orignal !

Do it for the looks, not the hp because it isn't gonna happen. If you like chrome get a MAC, if you like black or even custom color get JLT. It all depends on what look you want and much you want to spend.

I used to have a fox and i took out the fog lights and attach beam. Then i got a dryer hose from Ace hardware and routed it from the hole and into the air box and secured it with duct tape. I didnt really notice too much though.

JLT Ram Air. Not to expensive and won't have to worry about moving the MAF.

Ram air gives you the opportunity to drive over small puddles unlike the cold air JLT which is very low to the ground.

Not a lot of hp gain since I haven't used a diablo chip yet.

But nice addition to your mustang.

Most of those kits are for looks only. If your trying to make more power, spend your money elsewhere. I don't think they look that great anyway.

Why on earth would you get chrome???? The engine heat will heat that up and heat up your air. You are defeating the purpose of a CAI.
