Will this solve the ram air problem?

I just finished SEARCHING the forums to learn about the March Ram air system. There appears to be a problem with the scoop sucking up dirt, rocks, and leaves. I can get one of these kits for cheap so...what are your thoughts on this: Put a mesh screen over the scoop, and angle the open end of the scoop.

My thinking here is that when driving, leaves won't get stuck on front of the scoop which could happen if just screening it. This way the wind should blow any leaves that might hit the scoop down and away. Granted, there is still a water problem as well as the scoop hanging too low and breaking off. Do you guys think this idea would offset the March system making it worth while? Or should I just grab a fenderwell CAI?

I gotta March Ram Air setup on my 90... It doesn't really suck water up unless you go through a lake. lol. But it does get the K&N nice and dirty real fast. Don't worry about sucking water up in the rain.. doesn't happen. Now if you take your 5.0 muddin'... the ram air setup's not for you. :nice:

how will you keep the water out?

don't even bother w/ it....you need a necked down filter to go w/ it and the car will be slower or the same , just do a CAI or K&n cone

Water isn't a problem and the kit comes with a large K&N cone filter. There is more to the March Ram Air than a hose and a scoop, you should check it out.

Does anyoen have a picture of where the scoop mounts?, from what I've seen i can't believe that the scoop hangs that low that it would catch on things. My mustang isn't lowered or anything...

I ran that system a long time ago, but I removed the actual scoop and made a dual ram air intake using the GT Fog light holes and some plastic 5" tubing from Home Depot. Looked killer with some mesh screening.

My car is lowered, and the scoop doesn't hit anything unless I'm stupid enough to pull up too close to a parking spot stopper thingy (lol) Other then that, it never hits.
