ive got a 2000 gt with functional ram air. but it seems like the air has a long way to go to get to the intake. it has a vaccum setup that pulls air from the fenderwell until the ram air kicks in or somthing like that. but it has the stock rubber tube from airbox to tb. would i get more power from a normal cold air induction. do they make a different tube than the stock one for my ram air.

i don't have any experience with 'ram air', but it would seem that setup might produce more hp than a basic cai system.. i don't really think most cai setups net any 'real' measurable gains..'ram air' is an entirely different sort of setup..i could be wrong..

The only way that ram air would produce any power is because it is getting cooler air from outside the engine compartment. Ram air is effectively a cold air setup unless you can do mach 1 or above.

ram air

great article man. Do they sell just the air tube from the mass air to the tb. i just have the stock one. i think something without the ribs would be better.

That was a good article. I like learning new things, as this guy obviously knows more about the scientfic aspect of how a fluid moves than I do.

I think he means functional by an opening exposed into the airstream of the car.

functional

it is a kit that u mount to your hood scoop. you have to take off your scoop and cut a hole in the hood. comes in through the hood scoop and down to your air box. so at least im getting cold air. even if the ram air isnt doing anything.
