Ram-Air

Ram air on a car is not possible. You can put a scoop in the air to TRY to RAM air into the motor but it is not possible to compress air into a motor simply by driving through it.

if the ducting comes from your foglight or below youll need to clean/change your air filter a lot because it will be sucking in a lot more dirt/dust/debris

So, you'd ditch ram air, for a CAI, cause you think it would do more for you? Bringing cold air into the engine exactly what you want. The cooler the air, the more oxygen molecules it will carry. The more oxygen molecules that are present, the more fuel that able to be added, adding fuel and oxygen, increases combustion efficiency, increased efficiency = More Power. True, Ram air does next to nothing at low speed, but a CAI does next to nothing at any speed. At least on a stock N/A GT

Xlizeex, my smart ass comments aside, Ram air isn’t a bad idea, but like a CAI, it’s not a very effective power mod. Do it cause it’s fun to do, do it cause it’s cool to tell you’re friends you’ve got it, but don’t do it hoping you’re going to see any major improvement in the horsepower department.

Umm, lets see... did you see in my list a cai? no i think not. Cai are for mostly for looks, like some of my mods.
I thought there was some consensus that people know how some obvious things work like colderair vs hot air. Easy to describe a process that most everyone already knows how it works.
Impress me by going through the math of actually looking at the temp the air goes through without the air silencer then with a cold air kit. Describe the densities of such and the usefullness of say a 10 degree drop or even 30.
I see alot of people don't even live in areas that you would see a significant difference with cai. Winter is coming along and that proably the most gain you will see with it if you get 20-30 degree days and are even driving the stang.

Ricer tendency mods- as you know, ricers mods consist of looks alone. So yes, i have a tendecy to have played with the "looks" of my car that most are iffy about such as: painted interior components; fabricated sub&amp enclosure; aftermarket headunit&blue lighting; chin spoiler; and the most rice of all, projector lights and euro taillights. Ricer tendcey but a strive to make my car my own.

I am not trying to impress you, don't care to. But I have taken intake temperatures from the stock air box and a fenderwall CAI. The temperatures are the same. Our stock air box pulls air from the same place as the CAI pull from. I have even pulled the snorkel and got the same intake temperature. They are for looks. The make the exhaust note change. And by cooling the air a couple of degrees is not going to change any HP output. Infact, by simply cooling the air, you are not going to gain any HP. Now if you are not N/A and you are S/C, and you run an intercooler, it is not cooling the air so you get more power, it is cooling the air so you can run more boost w/out detonation.

Actually, cooler air does mean more HP. On any engine, N/A or otherwise.

had ram air on my 97 GT. it did nothing but make me clean the air filter more. When i finally sold the car and took the POS off, an ass load of pebbles, dirt, and leaves came pouring out of the inlet tube. Dont waste your time listening to your dumb friend.
