My little '66 was running strong through the 1/8 mile at Friday's Test and Tune but laid down on the top end on all 3 runs. The 2nd run it acted as though it was out of gas at about the 1000 ft mark so I let out and the power immediately came back so I got back on the throttle only for it to die again. So I coasted to an 11.71 @ 110mph on my worst run. That run was also my worst 60 foot at 1.81 because I spun.

The good news: My other 2 runs were both under 11.50. On all 3 runs my 1/8 mile mph was over 96. My best run looked like :

60' ... 1.642
330 ... 4.661
1/8 ... 7.211
MPH ... 96.09
1000 ... 9.446
1/4 ... 11.383
MPH ... 115.59

My 1/4 mph was down a bit so I have to figure out why. But I was still pretty happy about running a new best time. Still running 3.55 gears, 235 drag radials, and 8" rear end.

Plus: It made it even sweeter winning 2 $50 gift certificates for having the quickest street car there. I was actually surprised to win this because there were LOTS of cars there for the final race of the year. Lots of fast ones too!
11 sec. supercharged Stangs, 12 sec. turboed Thunderbird, 12 sec. new GTO, new Nissan GTR, 13 sec. Challenger, 12 sec. ZO6, 11 second newer model Camaro, tubbed out 11 sec. Pro Street 455 Pontiac, etc.... Fun night of racing!

Can't wait till next year!

Thanks!

Mike66: I am running a C4 auto. All I have done to it is added a Transgo shift kit and 9.5" converter. Still using the stock shifter. In fact, my interior looks stock with the exception of small tachometer on steering column and oil and water gauges under the dash.

It does feel good to beat all those cars NA! I talked to the guy that had the
'66 Fastback and he also had a 347 stroker. He was running in the mid
12's and was picking my brain about my car. When he found out I was runnning 3.55's, turning the engine only 6500 (he was going to 7400!!), and running 93 octane (he was running race gas cause he said it ran better with it), he was

I think the next step for the car is to get a good 8" converter so I can get some respectable 60 foot times. I may eventually step up a little in gear but it cruises so nicely now.

Why do you have drag radials on the car? J/K Your car is an over achiever for sure.

Good job on the new bests. I hate hearing others run though, stuck with crap ass rain for a while and no racing.

Brianj5600: Thanks! I hear that question a lot since Ken Herring asked me that on Pass Time!!

Coolblue65: I went up 3 sizes front and rear on the Demon 750. So 79's in front and 87's in the rear. I wish I would have bumped up 2 sizes in the cool air this past weekend to see how it would respond.

blown65: Thnaks! I have been wanting to race for a while too and finally found a Friday with no rain and it happened to be the final race of the year.
I hope to race more than twice next year. It's difficult to whittle the et down when you never race.

Thats quite a lot of jet change. I usually only change 1 size per 1000 feet DA. Patrick from Prosystems says 1300' per size, but when I went up north I was a touch lean that way.

I have read that Demons are usually lean right out of the box. Joe Sherman always goes up 4-6 jet sizes on Demons before making a dyno run. One of these days I'm actually gonna change jets at the strip to see how the car responds instead of just guessing. Hell, I may even toy with timing to see what it does as well.

I hate to admit it but I have never done any tuning on my car while at the strip. I make a run then walk around talking to others about their cars.
It's fun and painless but I really don't find out as much about my car as I should or could.
