Random Check Engine Light

My check engine light is randomly coming on for about 5-20sec every once in awhile, almost every time I drive. What would be causing this? Would it be an actual problem causing the light or a electrical problem? It seems to have started after my foglight rewire and 5" tach install. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

to find out what is causing this you need to pull the codes to see what is triggering the (cel) light to illuminate autozone will pull the codes for free or pull them yourself just follow directions in the link below after you recieve the codes which will be a 3 number code post them in this thread....

Bill is right on. The CEL does not have to be on to retrieve the codes.
