Hello,

I have a few questions regarding my 93 I wanted to ask.

The ash tray door doesn't stay closed. I've seen ash tray door springs for sale. Is this what keeps it either closed or open and mine is missing?

The door lock buttons on each door don't work. I assume since neither work, it probably isn't the switches. I haven't checked fuses, I don't know if the doors locks have their own fuse. Any hints on what I might look at?

Any suggestions on a decent repair manual?

It has Bullitt wheels on it. Any tricks to getting the center caps off other than removing the wheels? I've seen suggestions of carefully prying it out with a blade or small screwdriver. I also saw a video of someone who put a piece of Velcro on the cap. It was folded to make a handle, then pulled on with pliers and presto. I also thought maybe a suction cup might work.

Related to the Bullitt wheels, the fronts don't have the caps. I'm suspecting they don't fit because of the dust caps. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks,
Kevin

If BOTH sides dont work, start with the fuse under the driver side dash, then using a DVOM, check for power at the driver side door switch, then at the actuator, repeat on the passenger side.

Any suggestions on a decent repair manual? Great one online AllData. Chiltons sells a decent one but is not as detailed. @jrichker has links to good schematics for wiring, vacuum , and other

I would remove the wheels so you do not damage them

Depending on the front spindles used to convert to 5 lug and the backspacing of the rim, the reason the center caps are off is becuase there is not enough clearance for the dustcaps.. It is common

Follow this link to fix your door lock actuator problems

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $7. Fix one side for $20, do both sides for only $28. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.

By the way, i am still using the same $4 actuators I bought in 2002 and this is the second Mustang I have installed them in! Beat that with your fancy replacements!

Proper way to remove the caps is by removing the wheels. You can pry if you don't mind damaging the wheels and caps, but the caps these days are more expensive than used wheels.

Depending on the front 5-lug conversion used, the caps might not fit due to the rotor hubs

The original factory ford helm inc wiring and vacuum manual is only like $15 from helm inc.
It's what the ford mechanics had. Easily my most used book.
