I've owned them since 17 and I'm 21 now 3 foxes and a new edge ... Gt ,Lx hatch , Notch ... I'd say I like them lol

The price needs to come down on the newer ones before the majority of the younger crowd can get one. But not likely to happen

Price is all relative to time period. Yes, the Mustang has gotten more expensive in the most recent years, but then so has the car. In any case, it's not so much so that it's unproportional to inflation.

People used to complain about the price of the Mustang back in the 80's and 90's when these cars were new, just like they do today. Looking back on it now, what we paid then for them new was nothing....but I'm sure people will say that regarding the price of the current crop 25-years from now as well?

It's really too bad that the uninformed majority doesn't know how close to a 60's muscle car a fox actually is.
I don't have to tell you that the whole car is a Visceral experience, Noisy, Smelly, Loud, Fast, and (in most cases hot)

It rides harsh and depending on the suspension mod can get even worse.
It's poorly insulated and the resulting road/mechanical noise is all too evident.
Properly optioned, the car came w/ power and durability, w/o a bunch of fluffy goo-gah.
The power to weight ratio is very good. A mildly modified 5.0 can get the car into the 12's (something most 60's M/C cars could never do)
And left to it's stock braking, was obviously designed to go better than to whoa.

Yet despite all of that, the car is only now starting to enjoy some of that status that makes it "collectible" by more than some young guy that cant afford a "newer" Mustang.
I think the SN 95 will fall victim to being classified as the poor man's Mustang in the next few years, and the Fox will take off as it becomes more apparent how "right" Ford actually got it w/ this car.

If your 20, and you have one of these, consider yourself "ahead of the curve" and wiser than your years

I kind of agree with you, on that, Mike. When I was a kid I couldn't walk to the corner store without seeing at least half a dozen 65-66 mustangs. They made twice as many of those things than aero foxes, and now They're rare as can be and fetch 5X origional MSRP. I've heard young people say the fox will never be worth anything because there were so many made, but I beg to differ.. I say another ten years and they will bring some coin.

I own a Fox because i can't afford a '69 fastback so this to me is the next best thing. Plus this was the Mustang from my youth, i grew up with these cars, so it's like we have something in common. The Fox Mustang and i were both born in the same year too. I especially love the 4 eyes because they're really starting to look their age, as opposed to the aero cars that still have at least a little bit of modern connection to cars from today.

Trust me on this, the '69's look awesome, but the fox is much better to drive, if that's what you want in a hobby car. I had a '70 which shared a chassis with a '69, and that thing was a chore just to keep on the road.. I'd love to have another one, but muscle car insanity has made them impractically expensive.
So, I too drive the beloved fox...

I've drove a couple, i drove a Mach 1 a few times and i drove a big block '65 once. I liked them a lot. I figure aftermarket suspension should cure a lot of the handling issues? Overall i think my favorite thing about the Fox is how small they are. Park one next to a '69 or especially any of the '05+ cars and they look like compact cars.

Ain't that the truth..

When I got my '70 everything was worn out and it had manual front drums.. the steering box had about 35 degrees of slack in it, and when you'd hit the brakes it was a crap shoot as to whether the car would dart left or right from the brakes hanging, and the slop in the steering added to the nightmare. LOL. I spent hundreds of dollars and many afternoons and weekends replacing everthing on that car, and when it was like new it still SUCKED!, even with disc bakes, LOL. I'm sure there are aftermarket suspension setups n0w, but back then it was some cutting edge leaf springs..

The Fox is still a great common middle ground for some. Yes, we all wish we could own and drive a 60's or early 70's era Mustang, but not only are they becoming rare and expensive, but the upkeep on them makes them impractical for a daily driver. Everything seems to wear out more quickly on them and not only are parts becoming rare, but they're getting more expensive too. You may as well drive a new car for what it'll cost you in upkeep on one of the classics? Not to mention the way they go through fuel and test your nerves.

On the other hand, my Fox is still new enough and comfortable enough that I'd have no issue hopping into it and driving 4-hrs to visit my family on a Friday afternoon, knowing I have to be back to work Monday morning. I'm not sure that's something I would chance with a classic?

Also....I'd feel compelled to perfect my Classic in every way. The thought of "Jerry Rigging" anything on one of those cars turns my stomach. Not so much on the Fox. I could hold it together with bubble gum and duct tape for all I care. It's not like it was held together with much more than that when built new anyway?

i bought my first mustang in 1987 when i was 18 it was a white gt with the porno red interior and automatic . i wanted a stick but my father said in order for him to co-sign on it it would have to be an automatic since he didn't like manuel cars and would like to take it for a drive once in awhile.i had this car for two years before it was stolen while at work in 1989.i then waited a year and ordered a 1990 wild strawberry red lx with 5-speed and black cloth interior.i then put recaro seats that heat up and did all the saleen ground effects and chrome rims and nice alpine system.the car had 11,000 miles and was 8 months old and then gets stolen in front of a restaurant we went to celebrate my aunts engagement.fast forward almost 20 years i never forgot about the cars i barely got to enjoy,i wanted to get another one and a couple of vettes sandwiched in between i finally got back into one albeit it was a basket case.i sold that one and picked up a clean roller that now four years in i am hoping to get this thing on the road to recapture my youth lol.i am 42 years old now and don't plan on ever selling this car and hope to keep this thing within eyesight so that it doesn't share the same fate as my previous two.
