i just went and measured it the best i could...looks like inside drum to inside on the ranger rear is about 53" and offset where the driveshaft connects is about 24". on my 8" rear the width is apox 53" inside to inside, and where the driveshaft connects it looks to be about 25.5" measuring from the passengers side, that is how i measured on the renger rear too. It looks to be an 8.8 according to the tag, it says 4.10L 8.8 then some more numbers...so do you think the 1.5 inch difference will hurt, or should i get the tubed replaced. the long tube on the ranger is bent a little from an accident, i thought that i might be able to get that strait fro less than $100 if i took it to a shop, just for a third member with trac loc and different gear for my 8" is $600, no to mention another $400 or $500 for disc brakes, with my 8.8 it is my understanding that i can swith disc brakes from almost any 8.8, so i think the 8.8 is strong enough since my goal is about 300 hp and a t-5 swap to help with the 4.10 gear, and it should be cheaper to get it right than building my 8" or buying a 9"...what do you guys think...
