Ranger oil pan

I'm pretty sure that this has been posted a few times, but...

Has anybody used or tried to use a Ranger (Aluminum) oil pan in their mustang? The reason why I ask is that the stamped steel one that's on my turbo motor (not in the car yet) almost has a hole punched through it. If I can use the Ranger pan, I'll use it, if not, I'll have to pull the one off of the motor in my car.

Any info. would be great.

The later model aluminum pan uses a completely different gasket and I'm pretty sure there's no way to use it on the earlier 2.3's.

Will the pan fit in the vehicle?? I just got a later model ranger motor I plan to use while I build up my Turbo motor... I would hate to have to crack the damn thing open and change the pan.. Hoping to just drop it in and run it without changing gaskets or anything other than accy's for now.

yes the alum oil pan will work, in a mustang or ranger or TC, just not a pinto

BUT the TC/Turbo oil pump will not work with the pan, it hits on the edge of the pump whre the gears set. Some carful grinding will get it to work.

as far as the gasket, use the formed gasket for the oil pan,Now if your block used the rubber gasket you will not have a prob with fitment of pan to block,

Now if you use the 4 piece rubber/cork gasket for the pan, you'll need a tube of RTV , to fill in the front and rear cap grooves, over fill them so they are just over the cap castings and smooth, AND LET THE RTV SET UP SOLID, over night is ok 24 hours is better.
now the last thing to deal with on SOME blocks is the corner bolt holes, they are 8mmx1.25, you will not get them to work with the alum oil pan, You MUST Heilcoil them to 6mmx1.0
