With so many different tires and new tires coming out. And the search engine filled with pages and pages of tire related questions. I figure we needed a "rate your tires thread". Not only current tires but tires you've had on your mustangs in the past. Minus the stock Gatorbacks, we all know how they are. I figure giving mileage is useless with so many people going to the strip in the tires and some people not. Some people that do alot of burnouts some don't. So we'll leave out mileage.

Rate from a scale of 1-10

Dry Traction
Wet Traction
Cornering
Even cold weather/ice/etc

Khumo MX
Dry Traction - 7 In cold weather as bad as Nitto or any other drag radial
Wet Traction - 4
Cornering - 7

Khumo ASX
Dry Traction - 5
Wet Traction - 7
Cornering - 7

Nitto Drag Radials
Dry Traction - 8.5
Wet Traction - 2
Cornering - 2

I just bought a set of BFG KDW2 or KDW NT's today so I'll see how they are next week.

I've always found the reviews on tire rack to be useful. Read enough of them, and you can get a general feeling for the tire in question. You can even sort the reviews based on car, so you can get an idea of what other mustang drivers think of XX tire.

Each reviewer enters information such as driving style and their car which can give you insight into their comments. For example, someone reviewing a tire and stating that the treadlife is awful and it only lasted 8k miles, you can look to see that they drive 'fast and aggressive' and the car is a 'mustang GT'. Hmmm, just maybe they disapeared as smoke. Or more comically, you may read one that says these tires caused that person to loose control on a hard turn, then you read they drive a 92 honda civic fast and aggressively and it makes more sense.

I have futura's that were almost new when I parked the car....6 years ago.....in the sun ....in az. surprizingly they're not dry rotted or have flat spots. They're super hard, so no traction obviously but Ive been roasting them tons of times since i got the car going a month ago, still brand new. and since Im not into racing anymore (I just like fishtailing it everywhere) its the perfect tire for me.

edit-forgot to rate them

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 245/45ZR17

Is 1 or 10 the best? I choose 1 as the best

Dry Traction 3

Wet Traction 5

Cornering 3

Even cold weather/ice/etc 7

They are very slippery when the temp drops below 40* but kinda duh, there a summer tire. Road noise is not terrible but the ride is a little harsh. I like them an would buy again.

on a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being the best (the way everyone else does it :) ):

Kumho AST (all-season)
dry - 6
wet - 6
snow/ice - 7, for a non-snow tire.
Quiet, though.

Dunlop SP Sport FM901
dry - 10 for a street tire, unreal in my experience.
wet - 7
tire noise - 1150.365 decibels, unreal in my experience. Actually got quieter as they wore. Or I got deaf.

BFG KDWS (all-season)
dry - 8
wet - 8
snow/ice - 7.5 or 8, for a non-snow tire.

BFG KDW
dry - 9
wet - 8
cold pavement - 3 or something

In my experience, the KDWS and the AST are miserable all season tires in the winter. Perhaps it's the width, but I've had far better all season tires on other cars.

Yes I know tire rack has this but tire rack is to overall based. You could click on a certain performance tire and have 3 Ford Mustang reviews and have no idea if it was a v6 mustang owner or a drag racer, etc etc. I bought my tires from tire rack and always do. Than you can click on spirited driving and have a 93 Honda Civic owner with Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's giving a review which I could care less what any tire will do on that car. We've had over the years what gears to get threads or what intake plenum is best. So why not have a thread based on what every Mustang Owner will and has to do, and thats buy tires.

To another note. Why would you refer people to another website when they can get the answers here unless someone on here is looking for tires on a car that is not a mustang.
