Re-attaching trim pieces?

How do you re-attach the 3 inch trim pieces that go around the car when they start to come lose? I plan to re-paint the car soon and would like to remove the pieces to paint. I am then thinking about painting the trim black all the way around.

they are stuck on with double sided tape on the doors. be extremely careful when removing them from the doors because they have metal support strips in them and if not properly removed, will cause them to curl making them really hard to put back on. the trim piece on the fender extensions are held on with little nuts from inside the fender. if your car is a gt, they are part of the fender extensions. same for the rear.
