I know the dye will last longer, but Ive also heard thats it really hard to work with. Does anyone have any experience with either one of them? Mainly the dye.

EDIT: and what will match the black already in my car best?

well ive done painting... a full interior actually... it was a pain in the ass... taped off the windows and everything and left the dash in the car... the problem with painting is you will be finding paint for the rest of your life... i really couldnt tell you how red paint made it from my garage to the basement... the AC filter for the house was red too... :( painting is a pain in the ass...and if your not to careful you are always doing touch ups... i say you just go pull an all black interior and swap it out... that would look best.... i think all black looks clean....
My interior for reference...

GoodGod how close were you to the house?

I would love to pull an all black interior, but thats way to expensive for me.

Anyone know how hard it is to pull the dash and whats involved? Maybe a walkthrough.

take everything that you can take out out of the car and spray lots of thin coats.

replace things with original OEM black parts that go through the most wear--steering wheel, door sills, kick panels, door handles (the handles that actually open the doors).

i spent about $200 converting my interior to black, including a black leather-wrapped steering wheel off a 98 cobra, door sills, door handles, 01-04 center console, black arm rest for console, a 98 cobra black leather shift boot, and all the paint/supplies.

What color is your interior right now? tan?

adhesion promoter didnt help that much on the probe... it just made things messy

It sounds like you need to learn how to paint correctly.. I painted my complete interior in my car. I removed all peices I could, but sprayed the dash inside the car. No mess, no paint where it shouldn't have been...

As far as paint or dye Green GT, dye it if you can. That should be a little sturdier I believe.

I ordered 4 cans od the dye from 50resto.com

That should do me pretty good. Ill worry about the dash and door panels first, then Ill tackle the back. I should have enough paint for it all. Hopefully. It was like $50 for 4 cans of that ****.

i had the black/ tan interior and painted it, now im regreting it because any little scratch will show up tanned, i have to retouch it almost weekly so it can look decent
Thats why Im going with the dye. Hopefully it wont scratch like that. I think Ill do something replaceble like the door panels, ride it out for a week or so and see how it holds up.

Subscribing...

one way or another, I'm re-doing my interior this spring. I've got the same tan/black, and was thinking of just resoring it, but I was also toying with the idea of going all black. I wanna see how your turns out first:D
