I'm fairly certain that the answer to this is "no" but just wanted to make sure. And it's probably not really something I should do anyway...

But I'm still gonna ask. LOL. Are there any exhaust specialists around that can crack open a muffler and repair the insides? I ask because one of my Bassani mufflers seems to have the internals broken and they are viciously rattling inside the muffler. It sounds like a vibrating tin can at times and it's rather annoying. The only way to "fix" it now that I see is just to replace the muffler, but I've got to order it from Bassani to the tune of $300+. If repairing it is feasible and cheaper, I'd be willing to try that.

But if not, then so be it.

Never heard of that being done before. Not sure it would be practical, but hanging in for responses.

I put a new outlet in a flowmaster before-I'd guess it would be just as easy to tack a baffle back in.

I would think an argument could be made on a factory defect platform, if it was rust or abuse like it's all battered up from hitting objects in the road then no but an internal break/rattle I'd argue my case, how long they been on the car?

About 12 years. I doubt there's any chance of making a claim after that long. I'm pretty sure it came from when one of the exhaust hangers had split and then that whole section of the exhaust was banging up against the undercarriage. There was nothing between the catalytic converter and the OTA pipe keeping it in place so it's on me. I let it go too long but I've at least got a new hanger in there so that part's been solved.

I have welded mufflers that cracked, not on a Mustang, but a muffler is a muffler. If it just is loose parts, the weld probably could be done by anyone who can weld.

$300 seems like a lot to pay for a replacement from a company that doesn't weld their products very well. I would be tempted to buy a less expensive brand locally.
