Ok I got my new 351. I have to put a new waterpump on it. Its a new 5.0,5.8 pump from the autoparts store. I opened up the box of the new pump and see that there is a steel backing plate. Does this go on between the pump and the front cover? I dont remember, its been so long. I sold my old motor and have nothing to compare it too. It also came with two gaskets. Is one for each side of the plate? I know I sound like an idiot but I dont remember this from the last time I did it. Thanks for the help.

the plate should be pre-bolted to the back of the pump with two short-headed bolts, with a gasket between, and then another gasket between that assembly and the timing cover.
