Yeah, this is common. The most likely cause is that the caliper slide pins were not lubed with antiseize the last time the brakes were worked on. Take the brake apart, clean it up well and lube the slide pins with anti-seize. Remember that caliper pistons on rear brakes screw in and are not simply compressed in with a c-clamp...
