Hello,

I have a general question rear brake calipers on a 2001 GT. Are the rear brake calipers on 99 - 04 GT the same as a Cobra?

I know the rotors are different a size, but trying to find out if the calipers are the same.

Thanks,
Josh

Someone might correct me otherwise but i believe they are the same calipers just with different mounting brackets to compensate for the different size rotors.

I have also heard people say that the larger rotors will fit a stock GT. Although the pads must be worn down or cobra pads used to compensate for the thicker rotor (I believe its vented).

Pads are thinner on the Cobra due to the thicker rotors. Worn GT pads will fit.

Also, the caliper bracket which holds the pads is different. The Cobra's bracket is slotted wider for the thicker rotor and connected in the front for added strentght. The GT caliper's bracket isn't as wide and the Gt calipers are not connected.

The caliper part that contains the pistons and does the squeezing is the same on ALL 94-04 Mustangs.
