Rear Deck Lid plugs????

I am about to take my spoiler off to have it painted and i was wondering what you "wingless" guys use to fill the holes? i live in florida and it usually rains here alot (not lately though). Im just looking for a temp. fix, unless i like the wingless look. the car is a 96 gt. thanks.

electrical tape.

Thats what i used temp. Then you can just polish the residue off. I havent done it, but try slaping something that will dry hard on the bottom of the hole, like bondo. Then sand it flush on the painted side. Then you would have to get it painted of course. Or just let a pro do it.

just go to lowes/home depot etc and buy plastic plugs. i forgot the exact size you need, but if you do a search here im sure you'll find the sizes(2 sizes...one set for the foward holes, one set for the rear holes).

it took me forever to find them at lowes, but finally found them in a section of an aisle that has little drawers with various small hardware.
then i painted them with touch up paint i have.

i live in florida also, and theyve never leaked on me. hope this helps

i bought the 1/2 plugs and couldn't get them to fit. they were too big. but i could have gotton the wrong size i will see tomrow.. but personaly i think wingless look awsome when i have my top down. when its up its kinda iffy but really nice with the top down..

I used silicone. Worked perfectly. no leaks and its just a temporary fix until I can find a wingless deck lid. hope this helps.

They look great if done right.

Im about to silicone mine also, and when it drys hit it with touch up. Odd enough but it will work.

I will tape over the holes, punch the holes out through the tape, apply silicone... let dry, and add touch up paint.

I did it for a few days when i was waiting for my S281 to come in...i thought it looked naked on my vert but i like the wingless look on coupes.

Just go to Lowes and get some Hillmans nylon plugs...like 99cents a pack.

Didnt quite work like I thought it would...

Its do-able, but it sucks waiting for the stuff to dry.

I ran out of time to do more than 2 today, but im going to say your better off buying plugs and touching to tops up with touch up paint unless you dont mind waiting on the silicone to dry, and dont mind trying to get it smoothed off across the hole.

shoot...oh well guess im sticking to nylon plugs for now...

do the nylon plugs with some clear silicone around them to seal them up perfectly.
