Evidently, my rear disc brakes are dragging more and more. Car was hurking and jerking in 5th gear bad. Bet they've been dragging for some time and just got worse of late. Took off the left one and worked it over with the caliper cylinder reverse tool. Car was smoother still a little of the uneven pulling, so when got home checked up on how much heat was coming off my wheels. The left rear was about as warm as both my fronts ,but the right rear was really hot. My next project is to work over the caliper on that side. Anyone know if this is a problem in general with the older steeeda rear disc brakes kits?
TIA:D ,

P.S Bet this has been hurting my MPG for a while eh ?

The Turbo Coupe rear disks will drag if you try to use the stock Ebrake and don't modifiy the Ebrake handle mechanism.

Interesting how does the Ebrake handle mechanism need modifying? What would it look like, if it was done?
Have taken both of them out now and relubed the slide pins and ran the cylinder back in both now, hope it stays good. Had some shop put my brakes in about 15 years ago, they kept the manual for the kit , so don't have one :(
TIA :) ,

See http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/brake.html for help with the emergency brake. The red words link to some very useful photos on how to modify the handle. The stock setup tends to lock up and not release properly.

Thanks, jrichker for posting that link. Looks to be really good info. Will have to check out what my car has there , believe have heard the self adjustor click when lifting the brake before. This seems to coincide with when the drag got worse. Probably wouldnt matter what rear disc kit was installed would still need the self adjuster deleted. Because rear disc dont need that much change in the cable like drum rears. correct??

The self adjuster puts a constant tension on the ebrake cables. That makes the disc brakes drag. The only way to fix it is to do the mod as described in the link. I tried several different times to get it to work, but the mod in the link was the real fix.

Wow got my Ebrake mod finished today . What a difference !!! This really sweetens my car a lots ! Thanks for the good infos and postings.
