REAR END GEARS??

is there any way to find out what gears i have in my 95 5.0 L 5pd .i know that i can pull of the cover and add and divide

Count driveshaft rotations compared to tire rotations. Example say you had 3.73 gears. Your driveshaft would rotate approximately 3 3/4 times to one full tire rotation.

+1 to that. thats how i did it when i picked up my new rear last week. 3.27 in it tho . Theres also an rpm to mph calculator somewhere that tells you your ratio but i cant seem 2 fid it right now.

The only thing is our tachs are known to be not all that accurate

I'm pretty sure there something in the Vin or the little card on the drivers side door that specifies it.

looking at the tag on the drivers door will tell you what it left the factory with. unless of course you think theyve been swapped

There is a tag on the rear end. On of of the bolts holding the cover on

Put the car in 4th, bring it up to like 4-5k and note the speed... then using your tire size and these readings we can get you REALLY close... the higher the RPM and higher the speed the more accurate the reading...

I would just count the drive shaft revolutions, but here is a great calculator that you can use. Plus it is also great to figure out differences in tire, trans and gears on rpm. http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi
