I was wondering what rear end gears would be good for my 302
I have a 1987 302
edelbrock 750cfm 1407
E303 cam
Paxton centrifugal supercharger
edelbrock intake manifold
1.7 roller rockers
gt40 heads
thats just to name a few i have alot of bolt on's and msd distributor but I heard the 3.73 gears were best with a supercharged 302..
any suggestions?
Gas milage doesnt matter since its not a daily driver
Thanks

Agreed, 3.55 or 3.73 would be my recomendation, i run 3.55 in mine so i don't have to shift into 5th before the trap.

you wont run out of gear with a 3.73 or even a 4.10 for that matter. I would go 3.73's what size tire are you running in the rear? that is going to affect the gear change also.

With supercharged cars traction is a problem. The 3.73 gears will make 1st gear smoke the tires all the way until you shift to 2nd gear. No traction would make 1st gear useless. Go 3.55 or even 3.27 and you will be better off.

"90lx coupe" Granted with 3.73's i do not run up to the rev limiter (25" diameter tire), but i get pretty close, i like the breathing room of the 3.55's.

Traction is a problem with a blower in 1st as well.

3.55s would be perfect as it is the 3.73 there really isnt much of a first gear, toss in the blower and you really wont see 1st. might as well start in 2nd when on the street.

(assuming 5 spd?)

To me it all depends on tire diameter and the car set-up. I would probably lean towards 3.73 gears. But I would have 15X8 drag wheels with 27"-28" drag radials on it and 15x3.5's up front.

no more than 3.73's FOR SURE! i wanted 4.10's but i am happy with my 3.73's and my first gear is useless...not cool cause that my favorite gear....... i think 3.55's and 3.73's are not noticeable and with your mods i would opp for .55's knowing what i know now....

3.55's you are going to blow the tires away stillbut atleast you will be about 45 ft. out before that happens. superchargers like a little gear. helps you use the extra power you make in the middle and top end. go 3.55, the car is a little heavy but 3.55 would be my choice
