Drivetrain Rear End "loose"? Help!

Ok I just took my car (2002 V6) to the auto store with a "whooshing" sound coming from rear end. The mechanic there told me that it is slightly loose and there was nothing to worry about. Anyone else have this problem? And if so, how did you fix it????
