Hey guys, I'm new on here, and just bought an 04 Cobra nicely modded with 29k miles. It has pretty good rear end noise when on and off gas. Time for ring and pinion or? Thanks for any help.

Can you describe the noise in more detail? Is it a howling sound? Metal grinding sound? Clunking? etc

When you mention "on and off gas," that usually signifies the inherit "clunking" that is par for the course on IRS equipped mustangs...

Could be a lot of things, take it to a shop to get it diagnosed and then post up what they say it is and how much money to fix. Could be in the diff, diff bushings, the IRS suspension (a large subject even by itself), drive shaft, half shafts, wheel bearings, etc.

Well I don't ever get any grinding. This car has been modified with a lot of suspension upgrades. It just sounds typical of rear end when getting on then off the gas. It does only have 29k miles, so you would not think it would have rear end noise.
