A few months ago I had my car on blocks for about a month to replace the motor, anyways after that my rear end has leaked. How big or small of a problem is this, something that I can do myself or ? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

If its just leaking out of the rear end cover. Pull it off and re-seal it. Simple job i think its like 8-10 bolts. Make sure to fill the fluid back up

Quick question, I'm not to familiar with the back end of the car as much as the front but, do i need a gasket to seal it ? or some stuff in a tube? and the dumbest question.. where on the rear end do i fill the fluid up at.
Thanks

Some people use a gasket, some use ultra-blue silicone. I use a gasket with a thin film of ultra blue on each side.

The fill hole on an 8.8" rear axle is on the front side above the "equator" & on the drivers side I think. It is a pipe type plug that a 3/8" drive extension will fit into.

You want to fill it up to just below the hole.

The rear end comes from the factory without a gasket under the cover and I have always done mine with Permatex Ultra Blue without any leaking whatsoever. It is a matter of personal preference I guess.

You should be able to find Permatex Ultra Blue at any auto parts store.

Here is a pretty good article on changing the diff fluid. It has lots of pictures and I believe one of them shows the location of the fill plug.

While your at it you may want to check the pinion seal too. I just replaced mine this weekend with relative ease. You would probably see oil on the rear of the mufflers and also just behind the receiving flange (Drive shaft bolts to it).
