A few months ago I had my car on blocks for about a month to replace the motor, anyways after that my rear end has leaked. How big or small of a problem is this, something that I can do myself or ? Any advice would be helpful.
Quick question, I'm not to familiar with the back end of the car as much as the front but, do i need a gasket to seal it ? or some stuff in a tube? and the dumbest question.. where on the rear end do i fill the fluid up at.
Thanks
Some people use a gasket, some use ultra-blue silicone. I use a gasket with a thin film of ultra blue on each side.
The fill hole on an 8.8" rear axle is on the front side above the "equator" & on the drivers side I think. It is a pipe type plug that a 3/8" drive extension will fit into.

The rear end comes from the factory without a gasket under the cover and I have always done mine with Permatex Ultra Blue without any leaking whatsoever. It is a matter of personal preference I guess.
While your at it you may want to check the pinion seal too. I just replaced mine this weekend with relative ease. You would probably see oil on the rear of the mufflers and also just behind the receiving flange (Drive shaft bolts to it).
