Rear end problems with the '05s

Yet another "I heard from a guy who heard from his friend which told him that he had heard from his friend that a friend of his had told him a friend of his on the inside heard something about something" post.
Interesting that this is hutfloetz's first post.
The rear ends are essetually the same rear ends (8.8" for the GT & 7.75" for the V6) that the Mustang has used for the last 10 - 20 years. I wonder why they would all of a sudden have noise.
Almost makes me think that a lot of this "information" is coming from the competitiion who are now desparate to kill the success of the 2005 Mustang.

I am not trying to confirm what was posted, but I work at a ford dealer, and FORD has had problems with virtually every rear end they make now. Big issues with the 8.8 irs setup in the 02+ explorers, major noise. Also lots of issues with the new 04 F150 9.75 rear ends. I believe ford has went with a different supplier for gears recently, and they are junk. I hate to say it guys, but at our dealer we have seen a few 04 3v 5.4's with problems, seems the Drive Gear on the end of the cams that advances and retards timming is making noise(loud rattling noise on startup). I have also personally replaced atleast 10-15 solenoid bodies on the 5R55W trans in 04 explorers. I guess ford changed suppliers for them too,,,,or changed something. This is the same auto trans going in the 05 mustangs.
Sorry, I hate to bring the board down, because I am as excited as the next guy for the 05 stang, but I have seen some pretty major problems in new cars and trucks recently.

I have been reading the forums here for several months...this is my first post. While I enjoy reading about the information that is presented here, I am displeased with the criticism that is received by those such as 'hutfloetz'.
I hope that my first post allows those critics to view things from a different perspective and respond in a friendly manner that is conducive to discussion.

I can kinda vouch for what 94slowbra said about explorer transmissions. I have a 2002 Eddie Bauer explorer that would kinda jump and bog at low rpms, especially in reverse. I took it to the dealer and they changed something in the computer and changed a solenoid. After 3 times back for the same thing I had them change the transmission under warrentee. Since the new transmission I have had no problems, so maybe I just had a bad one. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as it is under warrentee you can have it replaced. I'm sure it won't be a huge problem with it if you even have one.

First the engine and now the rear end. People need to quit @#$&ing themselves anytime anyone says there might be a problem with something. It is the first year for the car. It WILL have problems. It will also come with what is called a warrenty, so when it does have problems you can take it back to the dealership and bitch at them about it.

I have a '94 Cobra and an '02 GT. Sold an '88 GT to get the '94. All three of these cars have rear gear noise.

Boy I wish some of you were around in the early 80's when I worked for Ford. Between warranteeing blue and silver paint that would fall off if you gave it a harsh look
, and broken pinion bearings in F series 9'' rears (yes the mighty 9" had problems too), It kept us very busy, and that was before the A4LD came out! I believe the quality you see in the 05 will be light years ahead of what many of us put up with in the past
