I'd suggest you try to find one in the junks. Any Mustang SRA has the same internal components as the Cobra's. Did you break your rear cover, too? If so, you can get an aftermarket one from LPW. I think the stock '99 has 3.23 gears like my '01. Exactly what did you break in there? Can you re-use the Fork Trac-Loc differential?

I was under the impression that the 99's had the IRS and if so you can get a custom 3rd member at; Approx. $899
Ford Custom 3rd Members : JTs Parts & Accessories, Justdifferentials.com

If not then I suggest doing what was mentioned and go to a salvage yard and search for the lowest mileage rear end config. parts for you car. Personally I've not done this because I couldn't find one that had low miles on it and just didn't trust what I was about to buy. Some people just tear their rear ends apart via abuse. Common for us Mustang people though. That's why if you're going to race a lot then get a 9" is what my suggestion is. Then you'll have the flexibility of swapping out third members for approx. $599 depending on where you go of course

then any 8.8 rear with the 28 spline gears should fit in to your housing > I would take the time and upgrade > even a little better than stock to hold more power or the power you have now better than the STOCK parts
sorry to hear of your bad luck .
