Rear end work - Atlanta area

I'm looking to swap the gears in my '97 vert.
Anyone know of a good shop in the north Atlanta area?

are you switching from the stock 2.73? if you dont have tlok, get that while your at it. and get at least 3.73 gears. I recommend doing it yourself. Install will be well over 500.00. Just get the gears and tlok and some friction modifier and go to town. its really not that hard. If you need me to, I can post a link to an article that I wrote on doing it. This is several years ago, but its around here somewhere. Its not that hard of a job though.

Man I would NEVER suggest putting gears in if you don't know how. That is a great way to destroy a rear end. Gears have to be installed correctly with the right spacing and back lash and you need the right tools to set it up right. Take it to a shop and get it done right the first time.

Man I would NEVER suggest putting gears in if you don't know how. That is a great way to destroy a rear end. Gears have to be installed correctly with the right spacing and back lash and you need the right tools to set it up right. Take it to a shop and get it done right the first time.

It's not rocket science or anything. But it is a bit difficult. It's tons easier if you are willing to drop the rear end and set it on stands so you don't have to work under the car. It's definitely not a plug and chug swap though. With the right tools, it can be done properly in no time.
