Will it fit, or should I say is it for a Mustang? If it is, go for it. If not, you might have to do alot of mods (cutting, welding, narrowing or widening, new axle shafts) to it to get it to fit.

Agreed. But if it's free, why're you asking us if you should get it? I call If it's not & this is sure pretty far-fetched you should get it to @ least store it for another car. How could you possibly say no to a FREE 3.90 geared 9 inch rearend?
no its not bs... its in an old truck at a house im moving too.. it looked all ragged out and rusted everywhere, but i was lookin into putting 4.10s in mine and nothin less.. is a 9 in that much better than an 8.8? oviously if its free! and also why does every1 use the expression.. "bulletrpoof" when talkin about that rear end???
the 9" rear is probably the strongest differential made thats not solely meant for heavy trucks. you can put crazy amounts of torque through one and they dont break. i would stick with a 8.8 because they are generally lighter and can be built to be close to the power rating of a 9"
