Rear frame rail replacement 65 coupe tips

I was in the process of installing a 9" axle & new leafs in my coupe when I discovered my rear frame rails are part rotten, so I have purchased a new rail patches and plan to pull the gas tank this week, but would like all your tips and experiences before I install the new rails in a coupe weeks after a vacation to Mexico w/ my wife, thanks!

Take your time. Measure repeatedly. If you plan to use factory style dual exhaust hangers, this is the perfect time to drill the holes and add the cross-brace inside the holes. Much easier than after installation.

My rails came w/ the holes for those big heavy hangers pre-drilled w/ sleeves for cross bracing, is this what your refering to? Thanks!

Were those holes for the dual exhaust or the hold-down plates? The two horizontally-aligned holes here are for the hold-downs. The vertically-aligned dual exhaust holes would be between them and the large eye for the shackle.
