Ok, Currently I have the stock 3.00 open rear gear.

I would like to up that ratio to somethink like a 3.40 locker. How much of a difference am I going to feel? How much would it affect my MPG? I see alot of highway driving.
Anybody got suggestions as to other options?

I got 14.5 mpg on the last trip, running at 75 mph on the open road.

Driving thru the Desert and hearing the motor taching 3.5 sounded
for a while.

Now the thought of a 5 speed is rattling around in my Head.

But the cost factor does play here, I could just put the 3.00 gear back in but the Fun Factor is not the same.

Still searching.

I got 4.11's and love em to death! There is nothing like giving her a little gas in 4th and her putting your back in the seat. Getting up to 80 now is extremly easy, even with a motor that doesn't run correctly at all. However, having OD with the 5 speed helps with the mpg, and even then it aint too great. I haven't even botherd to figure it out.

Depending on your motor's makeup, swapping to a 3.50 gear may make your mileage go up, not down.
