rear gear whine please help

had a guy install my 373 gear after a year my buddy told me the whine got worse. i cant hear it that bad because i got dump exhaust . will this whine hurt me or cause damage if not i will still drive it but if it brakes something i screwed. tight on money. its a ford motor sport gear i watch him install it with the making compound and it looked good and saw him shem it what should i do drive it and deal with it or what till it brakes. the guy said he would look at it but who knows when that will be

I put 4.10 gears in my friends 97 gt and they whined for about 2 wks. Also another friend had his gears installed by someone down town and when they were done they forgot to put in fluid to the rear end and just completely ate everything up. Check your fluid level and wear pattern on the gears. They shouldn't really whine past a month though after they get broke in. Also let the gears brake in and dont go out and just stab the gas after they're in. Could cause problems.

I had my 3.73's put in by a shop that does gears and custom car work and he said that 3.73's will make noise and that would stay.Mine whine a little but it's not a big deal.I hope it won't hurt anything.

if the pinion bearing is not bad and the pinnion was shimmed and set up correctly it shouldn't whine at all.......
