well, i have a 91GT as my daily driver. It currently has BBK shorties and x-pipe w/ 40 series flowmasters. In the future i plan to have a little over 300rwhp. For one of the next few mods i plan to get gears. i was trying to decide between 3.73s or 4.10s. Any input?

lol, thats a can of worms, that question. most would say no more than 3.73's if you drive on the freeway or cruise around alot. 4.10's if you only care about 1/4 mile times. or, there's another saying in here people use as well, some they say 4.10's for auto, 3.73's for stick. search it and see all the debates that come up it';s endless.

For a daily driver 3.73 are a great way to go with a 5-speed. I did see though that someone is now offering 3.90 gear sets for the 8.8. I think that might just be the cure all. (For a stick) Now if we are talking automatic anything less than 4.10 gears are a waste if time if you ask me.

wow, a question about gears?! i'm sure that NOTHING will come back from a search on that topic!!

anyways, the best way to find out is to install and test both. i did had a 3.73 ring and pinion installed. i didn't feel they were good enough so i had 4.10's installed. i've had the 4.10's in since jan '04 and i love them.

don't waste your time with bs opinions. try out both and make your decision from actual facts!

its only 189 for each set of gears and 275 for labor. if you plan on having 300hp to wheels like you said then that is not very much money.

With a projected 300 rwhp. That means you will still have a pretty stock type set up. (ie: no over the top power adders like Nitrous or blower.) The most bang for the buck, seat of the pants thing to do is to add gears. With an auto it REALLY sucks power out of a stock type 'Stang. 4.10 gears are needed to get the car going when you have an auto. Anyhting less than 4.10's will not offer as much fun from a dead stop.
